Non-Verbal Reasoning sequences can look confusing at first, but there are often clear patterns hiding within them.
In this introductory masterclass, children will learn how to systematically identify what is changing in a sequence, rather than relying on guesswork.
We will explore:
Rotation and movement
Changes in position
Number of shapes and elements
Shading and colour changes
Size and direction
Alternating patterns
Identifying one or more rules
How to break down a difficult sequence step-by-step
What to do when the pattern isn’t immediately obvious
Children will work through examples together and practise applying the techniques independently.

In this masterclass, children will learn how to:

Identify rotation and reflection
Recognise changes in shading

Codes & Verbal Reasoning Problem Solving

Codes can seem intimidating when children first encounter them. This masterclass will teach children how to approach coding questions logically and systematically, rather than guessing.
We will explore:
Letter and number codes
Identifying patterns within codes
Translating information systematically
Using known information to solve unfamiliar questions
Eliminating incorrect answers
Combining coding skills with wider Verbal Reasoning techniques
Working accurately under time pressure
Children will practise a range of questions, progressing from straightforward examples to more challenging problems.

Who are the Masterclasses suitable for?
The Masterclasses are designed primarily for children in Years 5 and 6 preparing for the 11+, although suitability can vary depending on the child’s current level.
Are the Masterclasses suitable for children who already have an 11+ tutor?
Absolutely. The sessions are designed to complement existing 11+ preparation, particularly for children who don’t regularly receive Verbal or Non-Verbal Reasoning tuition.
Does my child need to attend every month?
No. Each Masterclass is a standalone session, so children can book individual classes according to their needs.
How many children are in each class?
The paid Masterclasses will be limited to 10 pupils to allow children opportunities to participate and ask questions.
How does the class take place?
All Masterclasses take place live online via Microsoft Teams.
Will my child receive anything after the class?
Yes. Each paid Masterclass includes a strategy guide, practice worksheet and answers/explanations to allow children to consolidate what they have learned.
